The Nursery!

4 weeks to go!

I spent so much time packing away baby things for the move that it's so nice to put it all together in anticipation.

Go Ducks!

This room is South facing and will get a ton of bright light throughout the winter.

Thanks Marty & Lynn for the awesome dresser!

We debated the need for a changing table, but once we got here and realized there is no closet in this room, we thougth it a good idea, purely for storage.

Love it!

The New House!

Here's the new house.
Still a work in progress at this point.

Enclosed porch!

About 50% of the homes here have three season porches. And we are one of the lucky 50%.

Ours is currently being used as the 'baby product overflow', but very soon that will change.
I'm hoping to find a cute table and chairs to put out so we can get bundled up and watch the snow!!

Livingroom from the front door.

Those of you who spent any time at our old house in Portland will find this wall color familiar.
The house is North facing, so we thought we may need some warm paint to brighten the space.
Our ever faithful muted yellow did the trick.
And it made it feel more like home!

Now to figure out how to hang pictures and art on lath & plaster.
Any suggestions are welcome!

Livingroom and spare room downstairs, or at least the door to the spare room.
This house has a ton of windows which is really nice.
Libby loves to sit and watch all the cats in the neighborhood, and thanks to the lady directly across the street who feeds said cats, she's got a lot of watching to keep her busy!

Staircase and diningroom from the livingroom.
The old woodwork in this home is beautiful. Some of it has seen better days, but not too shabby for a rental.

This is the office off the dinigroom.
This room also leads to the nursery. See next post!

Kitchen!

This room is probably the biggest change for us. We had a pretty big kitchen in the old Portland house, so finding space for everything we accumulated over the years has been a task. You learn to be creative with storage and just make it work. (Hehehehe)
We now get to use a gas stove again. YAY!
Sure makes for awesome pies come the holidays :)

Another kitchen shot.

And oddly enough the only bath that is directly off the kitchen. So weird.
The bathroom is pretty small. No need for pictures.

Laundry/Mudroom.

This is a treat. We've never had a competely separate space for laundry. One more thing to add to the 'Must Have' list for our forever home.

Storm door!

Considering the possibility of tornadoes in the area we have a basement. And a storm door/basement access from outside.
Had to add this cause it reminds me of the Wizard of Oz. Love it!

Our trip to Iowa!

I was fairly ambitious thinking I would have the energy to update each day of our trip.

Yeah, that didn't happen, so here it is in fast forward...

Bye Oregon.
You will be missed :(
But...we'll be back!
Passed a freight truck for Mama Mia in the Gorge. Kinda cool.

Tried to get the 'Welcome To' sign for each state, and I got them all except Idaho and Iowa.
Maybe it's an I thing.

Utah!
Didn't spend much time in this state, but what I saw was pretty. Kept waiting for The Rockies to appear but I guess, after all the anticipation, we took a route that was less than overwhelming. Maybe next time?

Wyoming!
Wow, how boring is this state. No offense, but seriously...

Nebraska!
Um, a very close second to Wyoming as far as boringness.
We took breaks every two hours or so along the way and Nebraska is where the weather became interesting. Can't recall what city we were closest to when the humidity hit, but wow, it was impressive. It was at that point when I started to reconsider what I had agreed to.
Holy cow!

And last but not least Atlantic, Iowa!

Our new little town is super cute.
Kids don't lock their bikes, Downtown decorates big time for the holidays and everyone knows everyone. Watch out!

Want to extend a special thanks to my Dad for his help driving the moving truck all the way from Oregon! It was quite an adventure!

Here he is driving into Atlantic in The Yellow Cobra!

Our new home in Iowa!

Lynn found us the cutest house in Iowa to finally call home! At least home for the next year.

It's right in Atlantic which will make Lynn's work commute nearly non-existent.

Updates!

A lot has happen over the last few months; we've had a ton of updates done to the house in the hopes of a quick sale, my sisters threw us an awesome baby shower and our families finally met after nearly 11 years!

On July 21st I was laid off after nearly 9 years of working for Inspiration Software. Sounds odd, but the timing couldn't be more perfect. Can't wait to be able to stay home with this little bugger come November. It's bittersweet leaving all my work peeps, but it was time.

The house goes on the market Tuesday, July 26th. Wish us luck!!

It's a BOY!

We found out on June 3 that we are having a little boy! We are both thrilled and of course thought it was a girl. Had the perfect name picked out and everything. Back to the drawing board. Luckily Lynn was able to be home for this special day!!

We're off to Iowa!

Welcome everyone!
I've been thinking about starting this up for some time and figured I would wait until Lynn and I started a family, but since we are leaving soon on our big adventure I figured this was as good a time as any.

My intention is to use this as a journal and a way to make it super easy for friends and family to keep close even though we're so far away.

As many of you know, or maybe you don't, Lynn and I are soon to be Iowan's. Holy cow!

Lynn's been hired on with a leading wind power company and will be traveling for the next few months before our big move to Iowa. We will land west of Des Moines, most likely in a little town called Atlantic.
Going from Portland to a small town should be interesting.
